Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the activities that are prohibited when using the Crezaro payment services platform. This policy is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

1. Prohibited Business Categories

You may not use Crezaro to process payments for the following categories of businesses, products, or services:

1.1 Illegal Activities

  • Any activity that violates applicable laws in your operating jurisdiction
  • Drug paraphernalia, controlled substances, or illegal narcotics
  • Unlicensed sale of firearms, weapons, ammunition, or explosives
  • Human trafficking or forced labour
  • Counterfeit goods, stolen property, or goods infringing intellectual property rights
  • Activities that facilitate money laundering, terrorist financing, or sanctions evasion

1.2 Restricted Financial Activities

  • Unlicensed money transmission or money service businesses
  • Cryptocurrency or virtual currency exchanges (unless specifically approved in writing)
  • Binary options, contracts for difference (CFDs), or forex trading platforms
  • Pyramid schemes, Ponzi schemes, or multi-level marketing (MLM) programmes
  • Debt collection agencies using aggressive or illegal practices
  • Unlicensed lending or credit services

1.3 High-Risk or Age-Restricted

  • Online gambling, betting, lotteries, or games of chance (unless licensed and approved)
  • Adult content, pornography, or escort services
  • Tobacco products, e-cigarettes, or vaping products (varies by jurisdiction)
  • Sale of alcohol without appropriate licensing
  • Cannabis or CBD products (unless licensed and operating in a jurisdiction where legal)

1.4 Deceptive or Harmful Activities

  • Get-rich-quick schemes, investment fraud, or deceptive business opportunities
  • Fake charities or fraudulent fundraising
  • Sale of academic papers, essay mills, or exam cheating services
  • Fake documents, diplomas, or identification
  • Products or services making misleading health claims
  • Psychic services or fortune-telling with guaranteed outcomes

2. Prohibited Conduct

In addition to prohibited business categories, the following conduct is not permitted:

  • Processing transactions that you know or should know are fraudulent
  • Submitting transactions on behalf of another business without our approval (factoring)
  • Splitting a single transaction into multiple smaller transactions to avoid security checks or limits
  • Using test/sandbox API keys or environments for live transactions
  • Sharing API keys or credentials with unauthorised parties
  • Excessive or abusive refund patterns intended to manipulate the system
  • Using the Services to send spam, phishing communications, or malware
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Services
  • Interfering with or disrupting the integrity or performance of the Services
  • Accessing the Services through automated means (bots, scrapers) beyond authorised API usage

3. Transaction Limits

The following transaction limits apply unless modified by a separate written agreement:

  • Single transaction limit: Varies by payment method and risk assessment; typically up to NGN 10,000,000 (or equivalent) per transaction
  • Daily transaction limit: Subject to your account tier, KYC level, and transaction history
  • Monthly volume limit: Assessed based on your business profile; contact sales for volume increases
  • International transaction limits: Additional limits may apply for cross-border transactions based on regulatory requirements

We reserve the right to impose additional limits based on risk assessment, chargeback rates, or regulatory requirements. Limits are reviewed periodically as your transaction history builds.

4. Monitoring and Enforcement

4.1 Monitoring

We monitor transactions and account activity using automated systems and manual review to detect violations of this AUP. This includes fraud scoring, velocity checks, sanctions screening, and pattern analysis. Monitoring is conducted in compliance with applicable data protection regulations.

4.2 Enforcement Actions

If we determine that you have violated this AUP, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Issue a warning with a specified remediation period
  • Temporarily suspend payment processing
  • Place a hold on pending settlements
  • Require additional KYC/KYB documentation
  • Restrict account features or increase processing limits
  • Permanently terminate your account
  • Report the activity to relevant law enforcement or regulatory authorities

4.3 Chargeback and Fraud Thresholds

We monitor the following thresholds, and exceeding them may trigger enforcement action:

  • Chargeback rate: Must remain below 1.0% of total transaction count (Visa) and 1.5% (Mastercard) per rolling month
  • Fraud rate: Must remain below 0.1% of total transaction volume per rolling month
  • Refund rate: Unusually high refund rates (above 25%) may trigger review

5. Reporting Violations

If you believe a Crezaro merchant is violating this AUP, please report it to [email protected]. Reports can be made anonymously and will be investigated promptly.

6. Appeals

If your account has been suspended or terminated due to a perceived violation of this AUP, you may appeal by contacting [email protected] with a detailed explanation. Appeals are reviewed within ten (10) business days.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. Changes will be communicated via email or through the Services dashboard with at least thirty (30) days' notice. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
